02 / Traffic, roadwork and closures
Old Denver Road closure and I-25 construction
For commuting residents, changes in road access matter more than generic highway descriptions. These notices are dated, with direct links to Town and CDOT sources for revisions.

Old Denver Road: new closure through late November
The Town reports a closure between Santa Fe Avenue and Creek Valley Court beginning October 13 and scheduled through November 30, 2026. The signed detour directs through traffic via West Baptist Road, Highway 105 and Jackson Creek Parkway.
Access for homeowners along Old Denver Road is to be maintained, but the Town says vehicles with three or more axles may not use the road during construction. The work is tied to the realigned Old Denver and Doc Close intersection.

I-25 Monument weigh-station lane work
CDOT scheduled northbound lane reductions near mileposts 159–161 for the October 9–12 weekend while replacing weighing equipment. That announced window has passed. CDOT listed October 23–25 as a weather-dependent backup weekend, not a confirmed ongoing closure.
Drivers should confirm live lane restrictions, conditions and detours through COtrip before leaving. There is no reliable fixed travel time for this corridor.

03 / What's being proposed, approved or built
Development and business news around Monument
Projects change at different speeds. These are news and development status stories, with dates and links—not generic real estate advice. A proposal, issued permit and opening announcement mean different things.
Buc-ee's Monument Hill proposal
The proposed Monument Hill travel-center site remains a public land-use issue. Follow the latest county classification decisions, litigation and council responses before assuming a construction timetable.
Read the proposal update →Target at Legacy at Jackson Landing
The proposed 129,000-square-foot Target anchors an active development story near Monument's retail corridor. Our project update tracks permits, site planning and what is still pending.

Plans for a drive-through restaurant raise traffic, site-layout and municipal-review questions. The separate project post tracks development status without implying the restaurant is already open.
Follow the restaurant proposal →Lost Island II, dinosaur mini golf
The Monument adventure and mini-golf project has targeted a spring 2027 opening. The site already has dinosaur figures, but a proposed opening date is not a confirmed grand opening.
Read the attraction update →Conexus and other housing plans
New multi-family projects and development proposals could change traffic, services and Monument's housing mix. Status and approvals must be checked project by project.
Review current housing plans →Use-tax proposal heading to voters
Town Council voted in August to refer a proposed construction use-tax change to the November general-election ballot. Read the Town's posted ballot language and fiscal explanation.
