The original notice
What the June 2024 update referred to.
The U.S. Forest Service announced a prescribed-fire project at the Monument Fire Center west of Monument, with work planned for the week of June 12, 2024. Its project video explains the planning behind that operation.
This page originally reassured readers about smoke from that scheduled work. That reassurance belonged to a specific moment. The notice is now preserved here as local history, with its date made explicit.
To learn about the original project, watch the Forest Service’s project video. For current notices, use the official resources below rather than an old article or photograph.
Source date: the Forest Service video was recorded May 23, 2024 and added to DVIDS on February 27, 2026. The later upload date does not make it a 2026 burn announcement.
