Downtown Monument / Park guide
Limbach Park in downtown Monument
A small downtown park with a playground, bandshell, picnic space and some of Monument's best-known community events. The useful details are simple: where it is, when it is open, what requires a permit, and which event dates are actually current.

01Plan a visit
A downtown park, not a destination complex.
Limbach Park sits along Front Street in the historic downtown area, making it easy to combine a park stop with local shops, restaurants and a walk through the center of Monument.
The Town's current park-use guidelines set daily hours from 5 a.m. to 11 p.m. Camping, overnight parking and sleeping in Town parks are prohibited. Pets must remain leashed, and alcohol is not generally allowed except through the special-event permitting process.
Businesses may not operate on public property without a permit. The bandshell and events expected to exceed 100 attendees require a Special Event Permit; Town event staff use events@tomgov.org for those applications.
02Events
Know which dates are current.
The summer concert series has concluded for 2026. The Town has already published the next major Limbach Park event.
2026 Concerts in the Park
The free Wednesday series ran from June through early August, generally 6:30–8:30 p.m. The 2026 lineup included Vinyl Nation, Hot Boots Band, Winchester Road, Voodoo Mountain, Mimic, Skin&Bones, Ashtonz and a rescheduled Mojo Filter performance. Those are past 2026 dates; they should not be reused as a 2027 schedule. Town concert page
Annual Tree Lighting — Dec. 5, 2026
The Town's current schedule places the annual tree lighting at Limbach Park on Saturday, December 5. Activities begin at 2 p.m., performers take the stage at 3 p.m., and Santa is scheduled to arrive at 5 p.m. for the tree lighting. The Town also lists food-drive and toy-drive collections. 2026 event details
Private or organized events
Do not assume the bandshell is a first-come venue for an organized event. The Town routes bandshell reservations and larger gatherings through its special-event process, while other reservable park facilities use the Town's facility system.

03Local history
The name connects directly to Monument's beginnings.
The Town names Limbach Park for Henry Limbach, Monument's founder and first mayor. The settlement was known as Henry's Station in 1870 before the arrival of the Rio Grande railroad and the later name Monument, taken from the rock formation west of town.
Town history also notes that the Limbach family operated businesses in the community, including a saloon and dry-goods, millinery and dress-making store. That history is part of why this small park has an outsized place in the downtown story.
04Living nearby
Downtown convenience is different from subdivision living.
Homes near historic downtown put local streets, parks and businesses close at hand, while newer Monument neighborhoods can offer larger planned communities, trails, newer construction and different HOA or metro-district structures. Compare the setting, not just the ZIP code.
